RingCentral Fax Helps Colorado Business Owner Maintain Professional Image

May 10, 2007

Maintaining a professional image is key for small to medium-sized business (SMB) owners and managers. In fact, it’s fair to say that this business aspect is vital for success. One person who definitely follows the “professional” credo is Rick Stillman, owner of Denver, Colorado-based real estate company e-Link Appraisals.

“Image is everything in business,” Stillman said in a new case study from online communications suite provider RingCentral (News - Alert). “The only things I can sell are my experience, my skills and my professionalism.”

In the case study, Stillman explained how RingCentral Fax helped him utilize the advantages of fax without, for lack of a better phrase, losing face. Before deciding to go with RingCentral Fax, Stillman found that using fax was hurting his image even though it served a very important function in his business.

“I live by faxes,” Stillman said in the case study. “But from a cost point of view and a time point of view, I hated buying the ink cartridges and I hated waiting for them to print.”

Because Stillman shared a fax line with another business, the situation wasn’t just one of materials cost and lost time; he was actually losing faxes in the shuffle.

“It made me look like an idiot,” he remembered. “I was going to lose customers, so I decided I had to do something.”

Stillman turned to the Internet to research online fax providers. He admits that he located a couple of RingCentral competitors with cheaper services, but he found their Web sites unprofessional in appearance and confusing to navigate. That, he said, did not bode well that their services would meet his needs for professionalism.

RingCentral’s ‘hit a home run’ motto really appealed to Stillman, because it jibes with the way he runs his own business.

“That’s my philosophy,” Stillman said in the case study. “ I’m going to do it right or I’m not going to do it at all.” He signed up with RingCentral right away, and has not regretted that decision.

What does Stillman like best about RingCentral Fax? To put it in a nutshell, the whole package. He cited a number of features that help him maintain a professional image, such as the ability to print faxes on a high-speed laser printer. Now, Stillman can choose which faxes to print and which to store digitally. He also can easily find an archived fax.

Best of all, RingCentral Fax has helped Stillman avoid being seen as unprofessional simply because the technology he was using let him down.

“For image alone it’s been a huge boost to me that I didn’t even expect,” Stillman said in the case study. “The customer reaction was like ‘Wow! This guy is really doing nothing but getting better and better.’ It just adds that extra polish.”
